Curve text for badges, seals, labels and logos
Updated 2026-09-04
Round badges, “est. 2019” seals, jar labels and stamps all need text that follows a curve. In Studio it is a property of any text element: pick the text, open Curve, and drag the amount. Positive values bend upward like the top of a seal; negative values bend downward for the bottom line.
The curve keeps the text’s real width, so letter spacing does not squash, and it works with the text effects — outline, shadow, glow and gradient — and with every font.
How to do it
Select the text
Click a text element. The context toolbar above the canvas shows “Curve”.
Set the amount
Click “Curve” and drag the slider. Small values give a gentle arc; large ones close towards a circle. The canvas updates live. “Straight” removes the curve.
Flip the direction
Drag past zero to bend the other way: upward for the top of a badge, downward for the bottom. Two text elements with opposite curves make a full seal.
Style and export
Add an outline, a shadow or a gradient from the text styles, or change the font — the curve stays. Curved text exports as vector in PDF and SVG and renders identically in PNG and video.
Tips
- For a circular badge, use two elements: a positive curve for the top text and a negative one for the bottom, centred on the same circle.
- Increase letter spacing slightly on tight curves; it reads better around a circle.
- Refine understands it too: “curve the headline into a badge” selects a sensible amount.
Frequently asked questions
- Does curved text stay editable?
- Yes. Double-click to retype, change the font or size, and the curve re-flows. It is not converted to outlines.
- Can I put text on a custom path or a wave?
- Studio curves text along a circular arc, which covers badges, seals and labels. Free-form paths and object-on-a-path repeats are on the roadmap.
- Will the curve print correctly?
- Yes. Curved text is vector in the PDF export, including the print-ready PDF, so it stays sharp at any size.
